Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight Gilbert “El Niño” Melendez has not competed inside the octagon since his unanimous decision loss to Edson Barboza in July of 2016. Now, it would appear that the mixed martial artist is gearing up for a return to the sport.
Over Twitter Gilbert Melendez stated, “Fight news coming soon. El Niño is back! ??????.”
Melendez is currently on a three fight losing streak. “El Niño” has suffered losses to Edson Barboza, Eddie Alvarez and Anthony Pettis.
