Three Years Ago, D.C. Told Jones ‘You’ll Never Kick Me In The Head With Your Left Leg …’

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier suffered his second career loss over the weekend. In Saturday night’s UFC 214 main event, Daniel Cormier squared off with former champion Jon “Bones” Jones. In the end, the champion suffered a knockout loss in the third round.

In the third round, Jon Jones reclaimed his UFC light heavyweight title with a stunning left head kick to Cormier’s face. The strike rendered his opponent unable to continue. However, it would appear that Daniel Cormier previously made mention of how Jones would not be capable of landing a head kick with his left leg.

In a media day scrum for UFC 178 back in 2014, Daniel Cormier had a few words for Jon Jones about his leg kicks.

“So don’t think you are going to kick me in the head with your left leg.” Cormier stated. The fighter then explained that he realizes that left head kicks are a vulnerability in his game. “It’s freaking glaring. That is a weakness that I am smart enough to understand and go in a correct it.” Cormier said.

The champion was then rocked with a left head kick by Jon Jones at UFC 214, ultimately ending the fighter’s title reign.
