The UFC returned to New York on Saturday for a UFC on FOX event. This was the first UFC event to be held on Long Island.
The preliminary portion of the card was headlined by a welterweight battle between Lyman Good and Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos.
Dos Santos caught a leg kick and got the fight to the ground early in the first round. Good fought his way back to his feet, but Dos Santos kept his clinch. Good fought his way free and began throwing strikes. Dos Santos landed a leg kick that dropped Good. After landing a few shots, Good managed to get the fight to the ground. Dos Santos didn’t stay down long before fighting his way to his feet. Both fighters landed clean shots towards the end of the round.
Both fighters came out swinging to start the middle round. Dos Santos began to be the most active striker. As the round went on, Good began to have more success with his striking. Dos Santos went for a takedown, but Good easily stopped it. Both fighters then started trading punches once again. The round ended with Dos Santos landing a plethora of clean shots.
Both fighters got in a clinch and began to dirty box to start the last round. The fighters then separated and started trading. Dos Santos appeared to land more volume, but Good continued to move forward. Dos Santos went for a takedown but couldn’t get the fight to the ground. In the final minute, Dos Santos began to attack the legs. The fight ended with both fighters trading punches.
