UFC International Fight Week is upon us and on Friday the UFC hosted The Ultimate Fighter: Redemption Finale in Las Vegas.
The night featured an exciting lightweight battle in the main event and the crowning of a new TUF champion, but the night also featured a full night filled with exciting matchups.
The main card opened with a light heavyweight fight between Jordon Johnson and Marcel Fortuna.
Johnson started the fight as the aggressor. He landed kicks and punches before knocking Fortuna to the ground. Johnson landed a few shots on the ground before Fortuna got back to his feet. After both fighters traded punches, Johnson took Fortuna’s back and briefly took his opponent down. Fortuna got to his feet and both fighters once again exchanged shots to finish the round.
Both fighters were hesitant at the start of the second round but Johnson later landed a strong punch that rocked Fortuna, but he quickly recovered. Both Johnson and Fortuna managed to produce damage with hard right hands. Johnson landed a takedown late in the round and finished on top.
At the start of the final round, both fighters hunted for the perfect strike. Neither fighter was able to damage their opponent in the first half of the round. Johnson controlled the cage, but that didn’t stop Fortuna from swinging. Johnson went for a takedown towards the end of the round, but Fortuna managed to stay on his feet. The fight ended with Fortuna landing a plethora of strikes with Johnson retaliating with punches of his own.
