UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier has given an update on his weight cut for his next fight.
On Saturday, Cormier will defend his title against former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones.
On Wednesday, Cormier revealed that he currently weighs 215 pounds, which means, the champion still has 10 pounds to lose for his title fight.
The state of California has recently changed their rules and closely monitors fighters cutting weight. With the state closely tracking Cormier’s weight, the champion has had to change how he does things.
Cormier claims that this is the lightest he’s been at this time during fight week since his UFC fight against Patrick Cummins. He says he’ll have no problem making the 205-pound weight limit.
Cormier will be making his third title defense when he steps into the Octagon with Jones. To this day, Cormier’s only defeat in the sport of MMA came against Jones back in 2015.
UFC 214 will take place July 29 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.
