UFC middleweight contender Yoel Romero was excited about his first pay-per-view main event.
On Saturday, at UFC 213, Romero fought Robert Whittaker to crown an interim champion in the UFC’s stacked middleweight division.
While walking to the cage, Romero got too hyped while pumping himself up for his first UFC title fight. Romero began aggressively beating his chest and accidentally punched his own cornerman.
In the video below, you can watch Romero get overzealous prior to his title fight.
In the end, Whittaker left the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas as the interim UFC middleweight champion.
Romero and Whittaker fought in a back-and-forth battle. Romero appeared to win the first two rounds, but Whittaker was able to win the final three and just barely earned a decision win to become champion.
Whittaker is now next in line to fight UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping in his next title defense.
