7-Weeks Out From Werdum Fight And Derrick Lewis Is Undergoing Back Procedures

With less than two months before his next fight, UFC heavyweight contender Derrick Lewis had a procedure done on his back.

On Friday, Lewis posted a photo on his Instagram showing himself getting back treatment.

“Getting back treatment. I won’t have no excuse fight day,” Lewis wrote on his Instagram.

Lewis is scheduled to fight former UFC Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum at UFC 216.

Lewis is coming off a knockout loss to heavyweight contender Mark Hunt back in June. After the fight, Lewis announced he was retiring from the sport, but just two months later he signed to compete in his next fight.

Werdum is coming off a close decision loss to former title challenger Alistair Overeem last month at UFC 213.

UFC 216 will take place Oct. 7 in Las Vegas. The UFC has yet to officially announce the main event, but the event will feature an interim title fight between lightweight contenders Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee.
