On Wednesday, the Nevada State Athletic Commission accepted Floyd “Money” Mayweather and UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor’s request to fight in eight-ounce gloves.
After the commission made their ruling, the betting odds for their upcoming boxing match shifted in favor of McGregor.
McGregor is now only a +325 underdog against Mayweather, who is a -450 favorite.
McGregor will be making his professional boxing debut when he fights Mayweather in just over a week.
Despite having no professional boxing fights, McGregor is less of an underdog against Mayweather than many of the elite boxers who have fought him in the past.
Boxers such as Marcos Maidana, Miguel Cotto, Zab Judah, Andre Berto, and Victor Ortiz were all bigger underdogs than the UFC champion.
Mayweather’s upcoming fight with McGregor was originally scheduled to be with 10-ounce gloves since the fight is taking place at 154 pounds.
Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place Aug. 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Conor McGregor is now a +325 against Floyd Mayweather (-450). McGregor is now less of an underdog than Maidana, Cotto, Judah, Berto & Ortiz.
