Former boxing champion Andre Berto wants to become a world champion in the UFC.
During a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Berto said he wants to make a transition into MMA. He also told UFC President Dana White to give him a call.
“Dana White, you know me, you know my family has been into MMA for awhile. I’m coming to the UFC soon. Dana White call me,” Berto said.
“Tell Dana to call me. I’ll come to the UFC. I want to be the first fighter ever to be a champion in boxing and to go get a UFC world title. It’s never been done.”
If Berto were to be successful in MMA, he could be the first high-profile male fighter to win championships in both sports. Former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm has managed to win world titles in both MMA and boxing.
In the video below, you can listen to Berto talk about his future and discuss UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor performance against Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
