Breaking: Luke Rockhold Leaves AKA For Next Fight, Will Train In Florida

Former UFC Middleweight Champion Luke Rockhold will not be training with the American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) for his next fight.

On Thursday, Rockhold announced he would not be training at AKA and will instead be training in Florida via his Instagram account.

“American Kickboxing Academy will always be my home. Due to the injuries and inactivity to our key guys. My team and I have decided it best I prepare for this flight in Florida,” Rockhold said.

“All the usual suspects will be in my corner with the addition of (Henri Hooft). I’d like to thank Henri, Kami Barzini, Greg Jones and all my teammates here in Florida for helping me prepare for this fight. September 16th we ride.”

AKA is home to some of the best fighters in the UFC including former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez.

Rockhold is scheduled to fight David Branch in the main event of a UFC Fight Night event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Sept. 16.
