It appears UFC lightweight contender Tony Ferguson will not be fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov in his next fight.
On Monday, Ariel Helwani, of MMA Fighting, revealed on his show that the UFC is working on booking a fight between Ferguson and fellow lightweight contender Kevin Lee.
The UFC wants the fight to take place Oct. 7 at UFC 216 in Las Vegas.
Both Ferguson and Nurmagomedov had publically said they wanted to fight each other at UFC 217 in November. However, that fight appears to be off the table.
Ferguson is currently on a nine-fight win streak in the UFC lightweight division. In his last fight, Ferguson won a decision against former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos back in November.
Lee is on a five-fight win streak in the UFC. In his last fight, Lee submitted Michael Chiesa in the main event of a UFC Fight Night back in June.
