Coach Kavanagh Addresses The Pushdown vs. Knockdown Debate, Wins Today’s Internet With Instant Classic

John Kavanagh, the head coach of UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor, has shared his thoughts on the debate over whether or not Paulie Malignaggi got knocked down during sparring.

Last week, UFC President Dana White released footage of McGregor sparring with Malignaggi.

In the video, Malignaggi falls to the ground. Malignaggi claims he was pushed to the ground, while McGregor says Malignaggi was knocked down.

While the combat sports world was debating on what happened in the video, Kavanagh shared his thoughts on what happened.

Kavanagh mocked the situation by posting a video on Twitter of a penguin knocking down another penguin. In the video below, when the penguin knocks the other penguin down, the caption “pushing” flashes on the screen.

Malignaggi joined McGregor’s training camp to help him prepare for his professional boxing debut. After two sparring sessions, Malignaggi left McGregor’s camp after not liking the way he was treated.

McGregor will fight boxing legend Floyd “Money” Mayweather on Aug. 26 in Las Vegas.
