UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor is confident going into his first boxing match against Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
On Wednesday, McGregor appeared on Conan and discussed his upcoming fight against Mayweather.
Conan O’Brien asked McGregor about numerous things Mayweather has said in the past. The first thing O’Brien brought up was Mayweather saying he was going to move forward and go after McGregor.
“He’s saying he’s going to come towards me. I’m saying I’m going to come towards him. We are going to find out pretty early who is telling the truth,” McGregor said. “We’ll see you takes a back step first.”
O’Brien then asked McGregor his thoughts on Mayweather saying he was either going to go down on his face or on his back at the end of their fight.
“I’m going down in the history books,” McGregor said. “I will have dominated the UFC and I will dominate boxing also. It has never before been done. So that’s where I’m going, down in the history books.”
Lastly, O’Brien brought up comments on McGregor’s cardio due to him having never fought in a 12-round fight.
“Floyd is praying for me to fatigue in there, but I will not fatigue,” McGregor said. “I will continue to press forward and I will break him. At 40 years of age, he will not sustain my pace.”
Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place Aug. 26 in Las Vegas.
