UFC champion Conor McGregor made easy work of former champion Eddie Alvarez in front of a capacity crowd at Madison Square Garden for UFC 205 last year. Many expected Alvarez to give McGregor a tougher challenge but it would be all over for him by the second round.
Following the fight, talks turned to the possiblity of Conor fighting undefeated lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov who also had quite the performance earlier in the night. However, McGregor was not so sure if Khabib was deserving of a title shot just yet.
“Look, he’s fought once in eight years,” McGregor told the media after his win at UFC 205. “He ain’t fight too frequent for my liking. For me to commit to something like that, I need solid proof that people are going to show up. And he’s a consistent pull-out merchant. I need to see activity. I need to see consistency. I need to see me. If you want me to come and change your life, if you want me to come pick you, you better have some damn reasons for me to do that.”
