On Tuesday, one of the most brutal knockouts of the year took place on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series.
Julian Marquez earned a UFC contract after knocking out Phil Hawes at the UFC Gym in Las Vegas.
In the second round of their middleweight fight, Marquez landed a clean headkick that knocked Hawes out cold.
Since the fight, the knockout has gone viral and even aired on ESPN’s SportsCenter.
“The most vicious knock out you will ever see Julian Marquez vs Phillip Hawes last night on #ContenderSeries,” White wrote on his Instagram page with a video of the knockout.

Marquez is on a four-fight win streak entering the UFC. Overall, he has an MMA record of 6-1. His last three fights have all ended by knockout or TKO. He has two other knockout wins on his record, with one win by submission.
