After fighting Floyd “Money” Mayweather in a boxing match, people have been challenging UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor to compete against them in different sports.
On Tuesday, Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps challenged McGregor to a race inside a pool.
Former UFC title challenger Demain Maia is the latest to challenge McGregor to a different sport. In a recent interview with Combate, Maia said it would be interesting to compete against McGregor in a jiu-jitsu match.
“If Conor wanted to have a jiu-jitsu fight against me, that would be interesting,” Maia said.
Maia went on to share his thoughts about McGregor’s fight with Mayweather. The UFC welterweight believes the fight was nothing but a marketing campaign.
“Obviously, for people in the fight business, this was nothing but a big marketing campaign to generate money,” Maia said. “We had a fighter who’s not a boxer, trying his best against an expert.”
McGregor looked good early in the fight. But in the end, Mayweather defeated McGregor in the 10th round by TKO.
