Justin Buchholz, the head coach of Team Alpha Male, has given an update on UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt.
On Tuesday, Buchholz talked about Garbrandt’s recovery from his back injury on the Stud Radio podcast.
“Cody is looking good right now,” Buchholz said. “In practice, on Monday, he looked incredible. They were drilling and sparring, and Cody looked incredible. He is firing on all cylinders. He needs to get in there already. He’s ready to rock. He’s better than ever.”
Last week, Garbrandt sent out a tweet saying he will make his first title defense against former UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw at UFC 217 on Nov. 4. UFC 217 will be the second UFC event to take place at the historic Madison Square Garden in New York City.
“There is a saying, ‘when you get the belt the fighter gets like 50 percent better because they know they’re the best in the world,'” Buchholz said. “That belief can carry a fighter, and now you can see the potential of Cody.”
