UFC heavyweight prospect Francis Ngannou will no longer be competing at UFC 215 on Sept. 9.
Ngannou was originally scheduled to fight former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior dos Santos. However, Dos Santos was pulled from the card after he was flagged for a potential anti-doping violation from USADA.
Originally, the UFC was seeking a replacement to fight Ngannou, but the promotion was not able to find a suitable replacement on short notice.
Ngannou is arguably the top prospect in the heavyweight division. He is ranked No. 4 in the official UFC heavyweight rankings. In January, Ngannou knocked out former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski. Overall, he has an MMA record of 10-1 and is unbeaten in the UFC.
UFC 215 will be headlined by two title fights. UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson will fight Ray Borg in the main event. In the co-main event, UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes will defend her title against Valentina Shevchenko.
