A potential title fight between UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway and former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar is currently being held up due to contract issues.
According to Ariel Helwani, of MMA Fighting, the UFC is looking into booking Holloway vs. Edgar in either October or November, but there are ongoing contractual issues with Holloway.
After winning the UFC title, Holloway wants a new deal and wants to be compensated a lot more as champion.
In June, Holloway won the UFC featherweight title by defeating former UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo by TKO at UFC 212.
Edgar is currently coming off a dominant performance over Yair Rodriguez back in May at UFC 211.
Despite just winning the 145-pound title, Holloway has already come close to cleaning out the division. Holloway has wins over many of the top contenders in the weight class including Ricardo Lamas, Cub Swanson, and Jeremy Stephens.
Yes. They are hoping for Oct/Nov but Holloway's contract issues have not been sorted yet. https://t.co/eQn5I2Ve3q
