UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley may need to get surgery following his latest title defense.
At UFC 214, Woodley successfully defended his title after earning a unanimous decision victory against Demain Maia.
After the fight, Woodley revealed that he is suffering from a lingering shoulder injury and may need to get surgery. If Woodley were to get surgery, he would be away from the sport for quite some time.
However, on Thursday, Woodley revealed on his Instagram story that he was going to get a second opinion on his shoulder and may not have to get surgery.
Regardless, there isn’t a top contender at the moment for Woodley’s title. If Woodley were to get surgery, that would allow the welterweight division to crown a deserving contender for the championship.
Woodley has defended his title on three occasions. After winning the title by knocking out Robbie Lawler, Woodley defended his title twice against Stephen Thompson. Their first fight ended in a draw, while their second fight ended with Woodley earning a decision victory.
Tyron Woodley just revealed on his Instagram story that after seeing another doctor for 2nd opinion he might not need shoulder surgery.
