Longtime MMA Fighter Convicted In Horrific Dog Fighting Case In Pennsylvania

A longtime MMA fighter from the state of Pennsylvania will spend the next 10 to 20 months behind bars.

Dan Swift, who has fought in over 50 professional MMA fights, was sentenced to prison after he was convicted of running a dog fighting operation out of his home.

Swift was also ordered to by $54,000 in restitution. All of the money will be given to animal shelters.

On top of that, Swift is forced to undergo a mental health evaluation. He is also never allowed to own a dog again.

Swift was found guilty of three felony counts of animal fighting, a misdemeanor for possession of animal fighting paraphernalia, and a misdemeanor for possession of an instrument of crime.

Swift was arrested one year ago after police saw three pit bulls fighting in his backyard. The police went on to confiscate 14 dogs off of his property.
