UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway has reacted to UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor’s claim that he is still the featherweight champion.
On Wednesday, during a conference call with the media, McGregor said he considers himself still as the UFC featherweight champion. He also said he “dismantled” Holloway when the two fought back in 2013.
McGregor won the UFC featherweight title after he knocked out Jose Aldo back in 2015. He was stripped of the title for his lack of title defenses.
In June, Holloway won the title after defeating Aldo by TKO at UFC 212.
After McGregor made his comments about him dismantling the current champion, Holloway posted a quote McGregor made after their fight in 2013.
“I came for the finish. Anything else is a loss to me,” McGregor said after his decision win over Holloway.
“I guess with #WinOrLearn a “loss” is the new “dismantle” #2015champ,” Holloway said in a message directed at McGregor.
McGregor is currently scheduled to fight Floyd “Money” Mayweather in a boxing match. Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place Aug. 26 in Las Vegas.
