On Saturday, Floyd “Money” Mayweather and UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor will compete in one of the biggest fights in combat sports history.
Prior to Mayweather vs. McGregor, Mayweather Promotions produced a full night of intriguing boxing matches.
On the undercard, one of Mayweather’s stablemates, Juan Heraldez, had an opportunity to shine at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Heraldez is an undefeated welterweight with a record of 12-0. On Saturday, he fought fellow undefeated fight Jose Miguel Borrego, who has a record of 13-0.
Round 1
Borrego was the first to throw punches but struggled to land. Heraldez responded by working his jab. Heraldez was the more composed fighter in the first round. Midway into the round, Heraldez started opening up and threw a higher volume of shots. Borrego appeared to get more confident towards the end of the round.
Round 2
Both fighters traded quick jabs to start the round. Heraldez showed great speed by landing rapid punches. Borrego retaliated with power shots but missed his mark. Both fighters were more hesitant to engage in round two. When Heraldez would throw shots, he threw multiple punches before disengaging.
Round 3
Borrego threw the first shot of round three. Heraldez responded with quick shots to the head and body. Borrego appeared to get frustrated after Heraldez continued to land shots at will. Heraldez managed to bust open and wobble his opponent towards the end of the round.
Round 4
Borrego was the aggressor to start the fourth round. Even though Borrego was moving forward, Heraldez landed more clean shots. Borrego began to have more success landing his power punches to the body. In the final seconds, Borrego unloaded with rapid strikes to the head and body.
Round 5
Heraldez threw a few quick jabs to start off the middle round. Borrego continued to push forward but continued to struggle to land his shots. Heraldez was the faster fighter and landed a plethora of strikes in just seconds.
Round 6
Heraldez landed multiple shots early in the round. When Borrego would push forward, Heraldez would react in engaging a clinch. Boreggo managed to land some strong punches to the head, but Heraldez responded with a flurry. Heraldez then briefly fell to the ground after slipping. In the final seconds, Borrego landed a combination that appeared to stun Heraldez.
Round 7
Borrego came out aggressive to start the round, but Heraldez would hold onto his opponent whenever he gained momentum. Later in the round, Heraldez landed a quick combination to the body. The round ended with Heraldez continuing to land shots.
Round 8
Borrego pushed forward to start the eighth round, but Heraldez held his opponent to stop his momentum. Heraldez landed three quick jabs to the head. Heraldez showed off his hand speed throughout the round. Boreggo began to have success with landing his punches towards the end of the round.
Round 9
Borrego unloaded with shots to the head and body right as the round started. Boreggo later landed a powerful combination and dropped his opponent for a nine count. Herladez tried to hold Boreggo, but Borrego continued to land powerful blows.
Round 10
Both fighters traded blows to start the final round. Borrego was the aggressor, but Heraldez landed quick combinations while moving backward.
