The Nevada State Athletic Commission has approved Floyd “Money” Mayweather and UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor’s request to fight in eight-ounce gloves.
On Wednesday, the NSAC voted to allow the fight to take place in smaller gloves. With the fight taking place at 154 pounds, the fight was originally scheduled to take place with 10-ounce gloves, but both fighters showed interest in fighting with smaller gloves.

Mayweather wanted the smaller gloves in order to not allow McGregor to have an excuse for when he loses, and McGregor wants the smaller gloves because he is used to fighting with smaller gloves in MMA.
Mayweather vs. McGregor is scheduled to take place Aug. 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
