Former boxing champion Paul Malignaggi recently had a falling out with UFC’s Conor McGregor. Initially brought into McGregor’s training camp as a sparring partner for the UFC lightweight champion, Malinaggi briefly spent time with “Notorious” in the ring before departing from the training camp.
After a series of sparring photos were leaked, the former boxing champion left the camp and ended things with Conor McGregor. Now the boxer has come forward with some of his thoughts on the experience. Specifically, Malignaggi had some choice words concerning McGregor’s teammate Artem Lobov.
On today’s edition of The MMA Hour, Paul Malignaggi said “This guy, Artem, he’s like a punching bag. I thought you might as well hit the punching bag instead of him.” The former boxing champion then showed disapproval for Conor McGregor’s numerous sparring partners.
With or without Malignaggi’s sparring experience, Conor McGregor will face off against boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. on Aug. 26 inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
