Floyd “Money” Mayweather promises that his next fight will be his last.
Next week, Mayweather is scheduled to fight in the 50th fight of his legendary career. Mayweather will put his perfect 49-0 record on the line against UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.
On Friday, Mayweather talked to the media during a conference call and promised his fight with McGregor will be his last.
“I gave (Al) Haymon my word. I gave my children my word. I’m going to stick to my word. This will be my last fight,” Mayweather said.
“Actually I thought that the Andre Berto, I thought that was going to be the last weigh-in. I thought that was going to be the last training camp. I mean, just honestly speaking, I thought that was going to be my last everything. But you just never know what can happen. We’re here with this big event. It’s just, this is my last one, ladies and gentlemen. I gave my word to Al Haymon. I gave my word to my children. And one thing I don’t want to do is break that.”
Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place Aug. 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
