Former UFC title challenger Anthony “Rumble” Johnson has shared his thoughts on UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones’ latest failed drug test.
Jones tested positive for a banned substance from an in-competition drug test given to him the day before he regained his title against Daniel Cormier at UFC 214.
The test results from Jones’ in-competition drug test were released on Tuesday. The following day, Johnson released a statement about Jones on his Facebook page.
“I’ve been getting asked left and right about Jon Jones situation,” Johnson wrote. “Well I’ll say this…I learned from my mistakes when UFC cut me the first time. I can’t speak on if he’ll ever learn but as far as fight results, steroids will make you bigger, faster, stronger but not your IQ…Jon cheated but his fight IQ was still sharp! He set D.C. up for that head kick by doing the low kicks and liver kicks. Think about that for a second…”
If it is proven Jones knowingly took a performance-enhancing drug, his win over Cormier will likely be overturned. He will also be stripped of his UFC title once again. Also, USADA may suspend Jones from the sport for up to four years.
