Showtime Exec Clears Up Commentating Future Of Paulie Malignaggi

Stephen Espinoza, executive vice president of Showtime Sports, says former boxing champion Paulie Malignaggi will be a part of Saturday’s Showtime broadcast for the boxing match between Floyd “Money” Mayweather and UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.

On Wednesday, Espinoza talked to Ariel Helwani, of MMA Fighting, and confirmed Malignaggi will be a part of Saturday’s broadcast.

Espinoza also said they never considered taking Malignaggi off the broadcast despite his bad blood with McGregor.

Malignaggi briefly joined McGregor training camp to help him prepare for his professional boxing debut. After two sparring sessions, Malignaggi left McGregor’s training camp because he did not like the way he was treated.

Malignaggi left McGregor’s camp after photos, and later videos, were released showing McGregor landing hard shots and knocking Malignaggi to the ground.

In the video below, you can listen to Espinoza discuss Malignaggi’s involvement in Saturday’s broadcast, and listen to him discuss other topics related to Mayweather vs. McGregor.
