Former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre appears to have many advantages against his upcoming opponent.
After being away from the sport for four years, St-Pierre is returning to the UFC to fight UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping in November.
Despite being smaller and not fighting in four years, St-Pierre will actually have quite a few advantages in his fight with Bisping.
When it comes to basic statistics, St-Pierre’s first advantage comes from being the younger fighter. St-Pierre is 36, while Bisping is 38.
Despite Bisping being the taller fighter, St-Pierre will have a reach advantage of four inches.
St-Pierre also has an advantage when it comes to striking statistics. The former welterweight champion has a higher accuracy rate when landing punches to the head. He also is better at defending head strikes as well.
St-Pierre’s other advantages come in the takedown department. St-Pierre has a higher takedown and takedown defense rate.
Below, you can see side-by-side statistics of St-Pierre and Bisping and see all the advantages St-Pierre has.
Bisping will defend his title against St-Pierre in the main event of UFC 217 on Nov. 4 in New York City.
