UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor will not be bringing in any boxing coaches for his professional boxing debut.
Later this month, McGregor is scheduled to fight Floyd “Money” Mayweather, who is one of the greatest boxers to ever compete in the sport.
Going into the fight, McGregor will continue to use the same team he has used for his MMA fights, which includes his head coach John Kavanagh and striking coach Owen Roddy.
In a recent interview, Kavanagh discussed why they are not bringing in a well-established boxing coach to help prepare for Mayweather.
One of the reasons Kavanagh mentioned is because no boxing coaches have ever been able to defeat Mayweather, who is currently undefeated with 49 wins.
In the video below, you can listen to Kavanagh discuss the highly anticipated boxing match between Mayweather and McGregor.
Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place Saturday, August 26 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
