The Country Of Canada Just Spent $400 Million On WME/IMG (New UFC Owners) Buy-In

WME-IMG is expected to receive a $400 million investment from the country of Canada.

The Canada Pension Plan invested $400 million which gives them about eight percent of the company.

WME-IMG is also expecting to receive an investment from a Singaporean wealth fund.

In August, the talent agency is expected to negotiate with both groups to make the deal official. The deal is expected to be worth around $1.1 billion according to the entertainment news website The Wrap.

Last year, WME-IMG bought the UFC for over $4 billion.

Since they bought the UFC, many people have questioned whether or not the UFC is truly worth that much.

In 2016, the UFC had one of their most profitable years in the promotion’s history. However, in 2017, the UFC has struggled to do well on pay-per-view.

None of the first six pay-per-view events of 2017 sold more than 300,000 pay-per-views, which is less than the average sold for each UFC pay-per-view in 2016.
