The UFC has confirmed two intriguing matchups that will take place in September.
At UFC 215, former lightweight title challenger Gilbert Melendez will make his featherweight debut against 145-pound contender Jeremy Stephens.
Melendez is currently on a three-fight losing streak as a lightweight. The former Strikeforce champion is coming off tough losses to Edson Barboza and former UFC champions Anthony Pettis and Eddie Alvarez.
Stephens is also coming off a couple of tough losses. In his last fight, he lost a decision to Renato Moicano. Last November, Stephens lost a decision to former UFC champion Frankie Edgar.
UFC 215 will take place Sept. 7 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
The UFC also announced an exciting lightweight fight for their return to Japan.
Japanese MMA legend Takanori Gomi will fight “Maestro” Dong Hyun Kim, not to be confused with the welterweight contender Dong Hyun Kim.
The two will compete at a UFC Fight Night on Sept. 23 in Saitama, Japan.
