The UFC has officially announced the two headlining fights for UFC 216 in October.
Two of the best lightweight in the UFC will compete in the main event. Tony Ferguson will fight Kevin Lee for an interim lightweight title.
Ferguson is currently ranked No. 2 in the official UFC lightweight rankings. He is on a nine-fight win streak in the promotion and is coming off a decision win over former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos.
Lee is ranked No. 7 in the lightweight division. He is coming off a submission win over Michael Chiesa and is on a five-fight win streak overall.
In the co-main event, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Fabricio Werdum will fight fellow heavyweight contender Derrick Lewis.
Both heavyweights are coming off disappointing losses. Werdum lost a close decision to Alistair Overeem in his last fight, while Lewis is coming off a fourth-round TKO loss to Mark Hunt.
UFC 216 will take place Oct. 7 in Las Vegas.
