UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones has reclaimed his spot as the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
On Saturday, at UFC 214, Jones defeated Daniel Cormier in the main event to regain the UFC light heavyweight title. In the third round, Jones landed a head kick that led to Jones getting a knockout win in Anaheim, California.
The UFC has officially updated their fighter rankings following UFC 214, and Jones has taken the top spot on the pound-for-pound list.
Jones dethroned UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson, who has held the top spot for quite some time.
After losing his title at UFC 214, Cormier has dropped four spots on the pound-for-pound list and is now ranked at No. 7.
Jones’ win over Cormier was his 11th consecutive title win in the UFC. Jones won the UFC title back in 2011 and defended the title on eight separate occasions. In 2015, Jones was stripped of his title. In 2016, Jones won an interim title, but that title was also taken away by the UFC.
