UFC lightweight contender Kevin Lee has shared details of his sparring experience with boxing legend Floyd “Money” Mayweather.
Lee has a history of training at Mayweather’s gym. He is currently helping Mayweather train for his upcoming boxing match against UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor.
Lee recently appeared on Chael Sonnen’s podcast and discussed what it’s like sparring with Mayweather.
Lee says sparring at Mayweather’s gym is nothing like sparring in an MMA gym. At an MMA gym, everyone trains at the same time. At Mayweather’s gym, everyone watches the two people sparring. There are even seats for spectators to watch.
“He (Mayweather) actually fights. He doesn’t just spar,” Lee said. “He’s fighting with 16 ounces (gloves) and head gear.”
In the video below, you can listen to talk about Mayweather’s sparring and what to expect when Mayweather fights McGregor.
Mayweather is returning to the sport of boxing after being retired for the past two years. On Aug. 26, Mayweather will fight McGregor, in his boxing debut, in Las Vegas.
