UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley showed great takedown defense in his last fight.
On Saturday, at UFC 214, Woodley defended his title against top contender Demian Maia in the co-main event.
For 25 minutes, Woodley stopped all of Maia’s takedown attempts to earn himself a unanimous decision victory.
In the video below, you can watch Woodley stop all 21 of Maia’s takedown attempts during their title fight.
Woodley stopped Maia from producing any offense during their five-round title fight and was the better fighter on their feet.
This marked Woodley’s third consecutive title defense since becoming champion one year ago.
Last July, at UFC 201, Woodley won the UFC title by knocking out Robbie Lawler.
In November, at UFC 205, Woodley defended his title against Stephen Thompson but the two fought to a draw. Woodley fought Thomspon again in March, at UFC 209, and won a decision.
As of now, there is no clear top contender for Woodley’s championship, but it shouldn’t be long until the champion defends his title once again inside the Octagon.
