In 2013, there were few greater rivals in the sport of MMA than former UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz.
At UFC 158, Diaz challenged St-Pierre for his UFC welterweight title. The two elite fighters fought for 25 minutes in a grueling and hard-fought battle.
The third round ended with St-Pierre on top of Diaz. When the horn blew, the referee separated the fighters, and Diaz swung another punch.
Luckily for Diaz, the punch didn’t land and no points were taken away.
In the video below, you can see Diaz attempt to punch St-Pierre after the round was over.
St-Pierre went on to win a unanimous decision and successfully defended his UFC title for the eighth consecutive time.
St-Pierre is currently preparing to make his return to the Octagon after being away for four years. On Nov. 4, St-Pierre will fight UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping in the main event of UFC 217.
