The WBC has announced that the upcoming boxing match between Floyd “Money” Mayweather and UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor will have a championship on the line.
On Wednesday, during the final press conference for Mayweather vs. McGregor, the WBC announced that the two fighters will be fighting for the Money Belt.
The Money Belt has 3,360 diamonds, 600 sapphires, 300 emeralds, 1.5 kilograms of 24 karat gold, and alligator leather.
With the WBC putting an actual championship on the line, McGregor will have an opportunity to become a boxing champion in his first boxing match as a professional.
Mayweather will be fighting in the 50th fight of his legendary career and will be putting his perfect 49-0 record on the line against the UFC champion.
With this fight involving two major champions in the sport of boxing and MMA, the WBC believed this fight needed to have a title on the line.
Mayweather vs. McGregor will take place Aug. 26 at the T-Mobiel Arean in Las Vegas.
