Amanda Nunes Announces She’s Taking Time Off, Will Return To Fighting In 2018

UFC bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes faced off against returning opponent Valentina Shevchenko in the main event of last night’s UFC 215. Having gone the distance, Amanda Nunes earned a split decision victory over her opponent. Now, Nunes plans to take some time off from the octagon.

In the post-fight press conference, as transcribed by MMA Junkie, Amanda Nunes explained “This is the first thing. It’s still very bad. I’m still very congested.

“I think I’m going to take some time off because this is my breathing, and I have to take care of it. Sometimes, I can’t sleep at night. I think I’m going to take a break, and next year, I will come back.”
