This Saturday, one of the most highly anticipated female fights of the year will take place at UFC 215.
UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes will defend her championship against top contender Valentina Shevchenko in the UFC 215 main event.
This will be the second time Nunes and Shevchenko meet inside the Octagon. Last year, at UFC 196, Nunes earned a decision win against Shevchenko in a three-round fight. Nunes won the early stages of the fight, while Shevchenko appeared to be the better fighter towards the end.
Both women have won two fights since their last encounter. Nunes won the UFC title by submitting Miesha Tate. In her last fight, Nunes defended her title by knocking out Ronda Rousey.
After losing to Nunes, Holm proved she was one of the top female fighters in the world when she won a decision against former UFC champion Holly Holm. In her last fight, Shevchenko earned a submission win over Julianna Pena.
