And Another One… Fighter Drops UFC Main Event, Returns To Polish Regional Scene Instead

One of the top prospects in the world of MMA has decided not to sign with the UFC.

Polish fighter Michal Materla has decided not to join the world’s premier MMA organization, and will instead re-sign with the KSW promotion in Poland.

On Friday, Combate reported that Materla will not be joining the UFC. It was rumored that Materla’s UFC debut was going to be against Thiago Santos in the main event of a UFC Fight Night in Poland later this year.

Materla was going to headline the UFC event due to his popularity in Poland. In his last fight, in the KSW promotion, Materla knocked out UFC veteran Rousimar Palhares.

Overall, Materla has a professional MMA record of 24-5. He has 12 wins by submission and six wins by knockout or TKO.

The UFC will return to Poland on Oct. 21 for a Fight Night event in Gdańsk. The UFC has yet to officially announce what the main event will be.
