While CM Punk’s UFC debut did not go his way, it would appear that the pro-wrestler was putting up a fight in the sparring leading up to the climactic moment.
In December of 2014, the UFC announced that they had signed Punk to a contract, and that seemed to have sent many MMA fans into an uproar, as he had no previous fight experience, and limited training.
Not long after the announcement that he signed with the UFC, the former WWE superstar made the decision to train full time at Roufusport. With Punk training alongside the likes of Anthony Pettis, Sergio Pettis, Ben Askren, and many others, he dove head first into the elite ranks of MMA. By all accounts from his teammates, Punk is a very hard worker, eager to learn, and super humble in the gym. He’s often the first one in the gym and the last one to leave, so it sounds like he’s definitely putting in the work.
In the footage above, we get a glimpse of Punk doing some live training with former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis.
