The country of Canada may be cursed when it comes to UFC main events.
The UFC only makes a couple of trips to the Great White North a year, and unfortunately, many of the UFC’s planned main events were canceled before the event took place. In the past seven years, nine UFC main events in Canada were changed for various reasons.
Most recently, the main event for UFC 215, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday, was canceled less than two days before the event. UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson was scheduled to defend his title against Ray Borg, but Borg withdrew from the fight due to illness. Now, the UFC 215 main event will feature UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes defending her title against Valentina Shevchenko.
