UFC welterweight contender Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone says he has never heard of his upcoming opponent.
Cerrone will fight welterweight prospect Darren Till in the main event of a UFC Fight Night in Poland.
On Thursday, Cerrone was in attendance at the open workouts for UFC 215 in Canada. While in Canada, Cerrone did an interview and was asked if he knew anything about Till.
“Absolutely nothing,” Cerrone said. “I’ve never seen his fights. I don’t know where he’s from. I’m not bagging the dude, but (expletive) I just don’t know anybody.”
Cerrone was then asked why he accepted a fight with an opponent he has never heard of.
“I said yes before I even had an opponent,” Cerrone said. “That was their job to find the opponent.”
Cerrone went on to reveal that he was the one who suggested he should fight in Poland. Originally, Cerrone wanted to fight at UFC 216 on Oct. 7 in Las Vegas, but the UFC couldn’t get him on the card. Cerrone said the UFC was surprised that Cerrone was willing to fight on a UFC Fight Pass card.
Cerrone will fight Till on Oct. 21 at the Ergo Arena in Gdańsk, Poland. In the video below, you can listen to Cerrone talk about his upcoming fight.
