Fertitta Just Bought The NBA’s Houston Rockets For 2.2 Billion Dollars

One of the Fertittas has agreed to buy one of the premier teams in the NBA.

On Tuesday, it was reported that Tilman Fertitta has agreed to purchase the Houston Rockets for $2.2 billion.

“I am truly honored to have been chosen as the next owner of the Houston Rockets,” Fertitta said in a statement released by the Rockets. “This is a life-long dream come true.”

Fetitta attempted to buy the Rockets back in 1993 for $81 million but the team was instead sold to Leslie Alexander to $83 million.

“I am excited to welcome and pass the torch to Tilman,” Alexander said in a statement. “He is a Houstonian, business leader and committed to the success and excellence of the Rockets both on and off the basketball court. I have personally known Tilman for over 24 years and don’t think I could have found anyone more capable of continuing the winning tradition of our Houston Rockets.”

Tilman Fertitta is a cousin of Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta, who are the former owners of the UFC. Frank and Lorenzo sold the UFC in 2016 for over $4 billion.
