Things took an unexpected turn during the weigh-ins on Friday for a boxing match taking place this weekend.
On Saturday, Billy Joe Saunders is scheduled to defend his WBO boxing title against Willie Monroe Jr.
During the weigh-ins, Saunders son got on stage with his father and stepped on the scale while the two fighters were posing for the media. When Monroe touched Saunders’ son on the head, the young boy turned around and punched Monroe right in the groin.
After Saunders’ son hit his father’s opponent, security grabbed the young boy and took him off the stage.
After the weigh-ins, Saunders went to Twitter and defended his son for what he did.
“My sons been taught when A stranger puts their hands on them they don’t know punch and run away self defence,” Saunders said on Twitter.
In the video below, you can watch the weigh-in and see Saunders’ son punch Monroe right below the belt.
