Former Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard has been on a rough patch for the past few years and his troubles continued last night in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania against Anthony Smith.
Lombard was able to start quickly as he normally does, and looked to have control of the fight, but Smith would not be denied and came back to finish Lombard mid way into the third round.
ENTimports.com had the coverage of Lombard’s main card fight against Smith.
“Lombard looked good early in the fight. After landing multiple hard leg kicks and punches, Lombard appeared to win the first two rounds of the fight.
However, in round three, Smith became more aggressive and dropped Lombard after landing a devastating combination. Once Lombard hit the mat, Smith unloaded with brutal punches that resulted in the referee stepping in and awarding him the decision.
Lombard is now on a four-fight losing streak in the UFC, and this last loss could have been in last fight in the promotion. In his previous fight, Lombard lost a decision to former UFC Welterweight Champion Johny Hendricks. Prior to that fight, Lombard was knocked out by former title challenger Dan Henderson and welterweight contender Neil Magny.
With his impressive win against Lombard, Smith is now on a three-fight winning streak in the UFC.”
