Joanna Champion vs. “Thug” Rose Booked As Third Title Fight For UFC 217 In New York

Three UFC championship fights will now take place at UFC 217.

On Tuesday, the UFC confirmed UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk will defend her championship against Rose Namajunas at UFC 217.

This will be Jedrzejczyk’s sixth title defense. In her last fight, Jedrzejczyk successfully defended her title by winning a decision against Jessica Andrade in May.

Prior to that fight, Jedrzejczyk defended her title against Karolina Kowalkiewicz, Claudia Gadelha, Valerie Letourneau, and Jessica Penne.

Jedrzejczyk won the title back in 2015 by defeating the first UFC strawweight champion Carla Esparza.

Namajunas is currently coming off a submission win over Michelle Waterson back in April. Following that win, Namajunas is ranked No. 3 in the official UFC women’s strawweight rankings.

UFC 217 will take place Nov. 4. This will be the second UFC event to take place at the historic Madison Square Garden in New York City.

In the main event, UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping will defend his title against George St-Pierre. In the co-main event, UFC Bantamweight Champion Cody Garbrandt will defend his championship against TJ Dillashaw.

It's on! Joanna Jedrzejczyk heads to NYC to face Thug Rose at #UFC217!
