UFC lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov plans to fight for a UFC title before the year is over.
During a recent interview, Nurmagomedov said he is expecting to fight the winner of the upcoming interim title fight between Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee in December.
“I know (Ferguson and Lee) talk (expletive) about everybody, but I don’t want this,” Nurmagomedov said. “I know this: Both guys are great athletes, good fighters. I’m going to say good luck, don’t get injured, and see you in December. Good luck, guys.”
Ferguson will fight Lee in the main event of UFC 216 on Oct. 7 in Las Vegas.
Despite being ranked No. 1 in the official UFC lightweight rankings, Nurmagomedov was not booked to be a part of the interim title fight in October due to injury.
Nurmagomedov is currently undefeated in the sport of MMA with 24 wins. In his last fight, Nurmagomedov submitted Michael Johnson back in November. Nurmagomedov’s UFC career is also highlighted by a dominant win over former UFC Lightweight Champion Rafael dos Anjos.
