One of the top reporters in MMA believes the only way UFC Hall of Famer BJ Penn is going to win inside the Octagon, is if he fights CM Punk.
Recently, Punk’s coach, Duke Roufus, said the former WWE champion was waiting on a confirmation for his next fight. On Tuesday, Mike Jackson, who has also fought in the UFC and has the same MMA record as Punk, hinted at being Punk’s opponent on his Instagram page.
On Wednesday, Jed Meshew, of MMA Fighting, wrote about Jackson’s picture and said Jackson would be a good choice unless they want Penn to actually be able to win a UFC fight.
“If C.M. Punk is getting another shot, MJ is as good a choice as anyone. . . unless you really want to get BJ a win to retire on,” Meshew wrote.
Penn has lost his last five fights inside the Octagon. He is coming off a decision loss to Dennis Siver in June. Prior to that, Penn was dominated in fights against Nick Diaz, Rory MacDonald, Frankie Edgar, and Yair Rodriguez.
